Emotions are ever evolving and a natural part of the make up of being human. It's perfectly healthy to see the fluctuations of our emotions and to use them as a tool for self reflection. Emotions are real and important to process, grow and learn about deeper layers of ourselves.

All of our emotions have a specific meaning and characteristic, they define our understanding and feelings of the world and offer a direct mirror into how we have processed different events throughout life and possibly where more works needs to be done.

In the practice of Traditional Chinese Medicine, the belief is that every emotion carries an energy and expresses itself in our organs.

For example, the liver is affected by anger, the heart is affected by over joy, the spleen is affected by overthinking, the lungs are affected by grief... and so on.

According to this practice, emotions can impact our organ health and our organ health can have an impact on our emotions. If our recurring feeling is anger, eventually this will begin to have a detrimental impact on the health of the liver. Or, if there is a predominance of anger it's possible that our liver is needing support.

So what does all of this means?

Over the last two years and a bit, health has been at the pinnacle of all of our thoughts and discussions. How can we take what is so important in all of our lives and understand it deeper on a personal level? We can have a better understanding of how to manage and support our own health, when we look closer at our daily patterns - whether that means what we eat, our sleep patterns, how we move and one that is often overlooked - what our emotions look like and which ones are manifesting the most in our day to day.

it is important to have emotions, absolutely - no one can argue this. But how do we self regulate and work towards compassion within the self and for our own bodies?

What is your predominate emotion? And how can you foster them for overall wellness in your own life?

When our emotions are locked into our body, organs and tissue - we cannot overcome them unless we take a closer look at unmasking them, self regulation and support for the whole body (not just the mind).

When we can take a microscope into the 'little things' in our lives, we find the holistic approach to healing. In this case, healing one part of the body will inevitably heal another. By supporting our organs and systems, we can experience emotions without hanging onto them so tightly...and perhaps we take this preventative measure for the long standing health of the body as a whole and not a separate and individual entities.

If you would like to know more about how this can be done, don't be shy to send me and email and I can help by pointing you in the right direction!
